I absolutely love summer's bounty of fresh fruits and vegetables. I always wish that I had a large enough bounty of fruits, so I could enjoy fruit smoothies at a fraction of the cost of buying frozen fruits. Aldi recently had a sale of blueberries and strawberries for .99 a tub. My family and I also like to go blueberry picking. A great way to enjoy those fruits, throughout the year, is to freeze your fruit. To make sure that the fruit doesn't all clump together, cut it up and lay it out on a cookie sheet and freeze for about four hours.
Put the fruit in individual baggies and then in one large freezer bag. Now I can buy the discount bananas and not have to worry about them going bad before I can use them. My next goal for learning how to preserve summer's goodness is to learn how to can. What are your favorite ways to preserve foods?

Thanks for the tip about the time to freeze before bagging. I usually dump everything together in the bag and then get frustrated trying to get the fruit out for our smoothies.
For some reason, I never even think about the freezing fruit option when we want to take advantage of a really good deal. Thanks for this tip!
